Tricopat is a new device developed for the treatment of diffuse hair loss such as androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium (or their combination). It was developed in collaboration between several scientific and technological companies and the University of Bologna.

How Tricopat works

Tricopat is the name of the device. The treatment protocol for treatment with this device is called Tricogenesi. It combines four technologies using a serum containing peptides and growth factors designed for patients with androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium. It uses a synergistic combination of physical methods such as microderm incision, acoustic wave therapy, electrical stimulation and photobiomodulation to improve scalp blood circulation, oxygenation, nutrient delivery and cellular regeneration.

“Tricopat is a novelty in the treatment of hair loss. My patients like it because of the proven results of the treatment, its painlessness and simplicity. There are no restrictions before or after the procedure and no recovery is necessary.

Facts

  • Trichopat treatment is a non-invasive method of promoting hair growth
  • Promotes skin nourishment and blood circulation by various methods
  • In combination with a special growth serum
  • This stimulates the growth of healthier and stronger hair

Treatment protocol

The first part of the protocol involves microincisions (tiny wounds) by tapping on the skin, which is done by puncturing the stratum corneum with 0.25 mm microcones. The procedure is sufficient to induce microcirculation of blood and the process of neovascularization, leading to better oxygenation, nourishment of the skin and hair follicles. Irritation of the skin during the procedure triggers skin repair mechanisms. This activates fibroblasts that repair these tiny wounds, which in turn increases collagen and elastin production. In addition, the hair follicle stem cells are stimulated, thus starting a new hair growth cycle.

The second part is stimulation by acoustic pressure. This is a non-invasive technique based on the propagation of wave energy into the tissues. It induces a series of biological reactions through shear and pressure forces, producing a process called “mechanotransduction”. This process also triggers skin repair mechanisms, increases neovascularization, neocollagenesis and provides an anti-inflammatory effect.

The third part of the protocol is electrostimulation via transdermal iontophoresis, which is an electrical energy-controlled method that enhances the transfer of growth factors from serum across the skin barrier (stratum corneum) using an electric field. This method has the potential to regulate the penetration of drugs by varying the density and duration of the applied current – the rate of drug transfer is proportional to the electric current. Growth factors from serum transferred by iontophoresis have three main effects: prolongation of the anagen phase (preventing the transition of hair from the growth to the resting phase), induction of the anagen phase (formation of new hair), vasodilating effect to achieve better oxygenation and nutrition of hair follicles.

The last part of the Tricogenesi protocol is photobiostimulation through LED light therapy. Red LED light (632 nm) strikes the human skin, penetrates deep into the dermis and initiates a photochemical reaction that increases ATP production in the cells. This contributes to increased metabolic activity, leading to fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. It provides a high anti-inflammatory effect.

Treatment results of my patients

Androgenic alopecia, male, 35 years old

A patient came in for a consultation regarding thinning hair on the top of his head. He was one of the first patients to try Tricopat treatment in the Czech Republic.

And this is the state of the patient’s hair after 4 sessions.

How the treatment proceeds

It is always necessary to have an initial consultation first, where you will be diagnosed and a treatment plan will be drawn up together. And we’ll discuss whether Tricopat treatment is suitable for you.

If so, the treatment protocol varies according to your diagnosis and the severity of the disease. It usually involves a series of sessions whose frequency and length are tailored to the patient’s unique condition and response to therapy. Typically, treatment consists of 4-6 sessions conducted every 3-4 weeks. Each session is divided into two parts (10 minutes for skin tapping – microincision with acoustic waves and 10 minutes for iontophoresis, acoustic waves and LED light). You do not need to prepare for the session, it is only advisable to wash your hair the night before the treatment.

Before each section, a special serum with peptides and growth factors is applied. After the procedure, there is no need to cleanse the scalp or apply any cream. Patients can continue cosmetic or pharmacological treatment as usual. During treatment, progress is closely monitored and adjustments are made as needed to optimize results.

Safety and side effects

It is a non-invasive treatment that minimizes the risk of side effects. Local anaesthesia is not necessary. The treatment is completely painless and safe. I recommend this treatment to patients who are afraid of needles or have skin more sensitive to needles.
